Her fingers brushed against a door and she reached down for the handle. This would be the room known as the parlour, used in Victorian times for entertaining and high tea. The stiffness of the door in the frame suggested it had not been visited for some time. She gave it a shove and a gust of stale air puffed out. The room was in black, with only a slit of light coming from edges of the thickly curtained window. Anita took four paces across the room and ripped the drapes open in a flurry of dust. She coughed, her eyes tight shut, tears streaming down her cheeks. When the wheezing and spluttering subsided she opened her eyes, expecting to see a room crammed full of worthless trash. Instead, she was staring into the eyes of a young child.

hymn-book-3d-mockup-v2

Matthew Cash and Em Dehaney present The Reverend Burdizzo’s Hymn Book. Twenty-one tales, each  inspired by religious songs and themes. Each one entirely new and blasphemous its own unique ways. But this is not an anti-religion collection, this is a pro-creativity collection. Bodyshockers, night terrors, post-apocalyptic psychedelic sci-fi, well-known characters re-imagined and folk tales re-told.

Tales by the firelight. Songs in the dark. Hymns sung with a heavy heart.

All are welcome in The Reverend Burdizzo’s congregation, so come one come all. Be you Muslim or Methodist, Anarchist or Atheist, Buddhist or Brahman, pull up a pew and prepare to be terrified, tantalised, disgusted and delighted.

The Reverend Burdizzo’s Hymn Book

Hymns tell tales of myriad gods. Angry gods hurling fire and brimstone at the disbelievers, promising eternal damnation in hellish post-life realms. Others sing praises of ancient feet treading on freshly tilled earth, spreading happiness and love.
Reverend Burdizzo has rounded up a congregation of voices to bring to you these new hymns. Come join him in his choir and sing these new songs of praise.

They will put the fear of God into you.
